For this type of treatment the health resort and your accommodation can be chosen together with your doctor. The extent of the cover from the german health insurance policy may vary depending on the company you are insured with.The german health insurance (Krankenkasse) covers the full costs for medical care and 90% of the "Kurmittel" treatment costs for patients who pay into the german health insurance system.
The german health insurance may also pay a contribution on a daily basis for the related costs (accommodation, meals, health resort tax, and transport costs).
