Excursion destinations around Todtmoos: Basel
The third largest city in the "Alps republic" with its 170,000 inhabitants can be found in the triangle formed by Germany, France and Switzerland. The idyllic city is greatly influenced by the imposing Rhine river, which flows through Basel. The Basel Münster resides on the cathedral hill. The bold brick and red sandstone make the view an impressive sight, even in the evening light, when the cathedral is flooded with light.
During a tour through the homely old town it is important to visit the tasteful town hall, which has also been built using the red sandstone. Basel enjoys an excellent reputation as a culture city in the region. Various exhibitions take place regularly in the many museums and the selection of concerts is also very extensive.
